This year it was local music industry legend Stephen ‘Pav’ Pavlovic’s turn to curate a program of events in and around Sydney’s most iconic venue, and goddam, didn’t he do an amazing job of it. From an eighty year old master of his art to a band formed just last year; one-of-a-kind concerts by legendary international musicians, electro duos and indie darlings to club nights, a daily radio show, audio-visual performances, art installations and even cult children’s entertainment, Vivid LIVE featured an astounding line up of local and international artists. Website

musica BEST MAJOR FESTIVAL presented by BRAGMusica Tumbalong

Boasting a hand-picked selection of nine artists across the electronic music and indie spectrum, five of which had never visited our shores before, música /TUMBALONG was focused on delivering a limited capacity event without any of the annoying elements of big festivals. The discerning line up included SBTRKT, Ghostpoet, Tiger & Woods, Lunice, Bon Chat Bon Rat, Electric Wire Hustle, Mitzi, Simon Caldwell, New Navy, Gloves and Guerre, and with the gourmet food and relaxed vibes, we’re calling this debut a success. Website

graphic BEST MAJOR FESTIVAL presented by BRAGGraphic

Graphic novels and comic art are now a leading source of inspiration for films, television, clothing, designers, musicians and artists the world over. GRAPHIC celebrates this brave new world annually in a weekend of specially commissioned productions, with musical responses to graphic art & stories, workshops, panels, a film program, a games exhibition and an animation competition. The 2011festival featured Gotye, Reg Mombassa, Masaya Matsuura and Tekken Kinkreet, and even with the sad cancellation of cult hero Robert Crumb, Graphic was nothing short if inspiring. Website
